width=65width=85(AUSTIN) – Texas Association of Business (TAB) today released its priorities handbook Creating Opportunities for Tomorrow outlining the most important business issues for the 2009 legislative session that enable businesses to grow and prosper while providing good paying jobs for more Texans.

“The United States is experiencing the effects of a flagging national economy but Texas continues to buck trends because we have been committed to fiscal responsibility” said Bill Hammond President of TAB.

“The priorities detailed in our legislative agenda will ensure that Texas maintains that economic success creates business opportunities and adds the education reforms necessary to prepare our children for the workforce college and beyond.”

TAB’s legislative agenda promotes an agenda that helps all businesses small and large to succeed.    The Association’s top issues for the upcoming session include:

• Taxes and Spending
• Economic Development
• Education and Workforce Development
• Health care

The biennial legislative agenda is developed and approved by TAB’s Board of Directors who live across the state and represent diverse business sectors.  When the 2009 Texas Legislature adjourns TAB will report the legislative results and a comprehensive voting record based on the issues outlined in Creating Opportunities for Tomorrow.  Legislators scoring 80 percent or above on the issues most important to business will be awarded TAB’s highest legislative honors.
