Campbell Says Doggett Wants Federal Government in Texas schools

Our education system deserves constant improvement but this advancement happens best when driven at the local level. width=183--Donna Campbell M.D.   Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Leave it to a career politician like Lloyd Doggett to offer more Washington involvement as a solution. Tax money collected from Texans by Washington would go a lot further in our schools if it stayed here to begin with so local width=133school boards teachers & parents could enable our students to flourish. Lloyd Doggetts policies on education mirror those of Nancy Pelosi & Barack Obama ... imposing unwanted standards on our communities while failing to teach our children the necessary skills to compete in a global environment.     After imposing Big Government on health care the auto industry energy companies & small businesses he now wants bureaucrats some 1500 miles away put in charge of our childrens education. Lloyd Doggett takes issue with logic instead wanting the federal government even further involved in our local schools./ In Washington for 16 years Lloyd Doggett wants to completely remove Texas parents and teachers from the decision-making process and strip local control away from school districts. He even wrote an amendment that singled out Texas and blocked $830 million in funding for our school children funding that our 49 sister states are now eagerly circling around. This is unacceptable. One congressman in a body of 435 should not wield this much power and this is why I stand against the involvement of the federal government in width=98Texas schools. The annual budget for the Federal Education Department is now nearly $70 billion. Cut this back to where every state gets to keep $1 billion (here in Texas thats $170 million more than were trying to get back from them right now) and this bloated remote Washington agency still has $20 billion to keep the lights on. Our education system deserves constant improvement but this advancement happens best when driven at the local level. I will fight for Texas students their parents teachers and administrators and stand up against the broken and unaccountable bureaucracy in Washington that is all too willing to experiment with our childrens education. Success and achievement happen at home and in the classroom not in the hallways of the Department of Education and certainly not in the marbled corridors of the U.S. Capitol. How about we leave the running of Texas schools to Texas school board members teachers and parents? And while were at it lets have Washington D.C. turn its full attention back to protecting the countrys borders checking the nations corrosive 10 unemployment rate cutting the runaway 13.6 trillion dollar deficit & getting a letter properly delivered.
