Fiscal Responsibility Still Lacking in Recovery Plan

(WASHINGTON DC) President Obama gave the country a badly-needed boost in economic morale during tonights speech to the Joint Session of Congress according to U.S. Rep. John Carter (R-TX).
This is definitely a step in the right direction as far as leading the country forward" says Carter. We might not agree on the level of spending and taxes but we can all follow the Presidents lead in making America and the world aware that this recession is temporary our economy will recover and we can and will build a bright future for our children and grandchildren."
Carter still voiced sharp disagreement with the enormous deficit spending and tax increases proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats in the upcoming vote on the Omnibus spending bill this week.
We know precisely what policies will and wont work to get us out of recession" says Congressman Carter. President Carter tried the big-spender approach in 1978 and it not only failed it made our economy worse. Presidents Kennedy and Reagan chose fiscal responsibility and tax cuts to combat their respective recessions and sent the economy soaring."
Carter today joined all Republican House leaders in requesting the President withdraw the massive $410 billion Omnibus Bill in lieu of a Continuing Resolution that would freeze federal spending at 2008 levels for the remainder of Fiscal 2009. The Republican proposal would also eliminate all Republican and Democrat earmarks.
While the House Republican Conference Secretary praised the Presidents call for energy independence he expressed disappointment that Obama did not voice support for increased domestic oil production and that the President supported a highly bureaucratic and costly cap and trade" system on air pollution that will not reduce emissions but greatly raise consumer power bills.
