Carter Fights to Save Hotel Pools from New Federal Regs

width=71Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Hotels would be mandated to have separate stationary pool lifts for every on-site water feature under new federal regulations and that has Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) demanding commonsense regulatory reform. Requirements to have a pool lift capability are a reasonable accommodation for folks with disabilities" says Carter.  Portable lift machines that can be moved between pools hot tubs and saunas as needed are likewise a reasonable and cost-effective means of compliance.  But to mandate there must be a stationary lift at every facility shows Washington bureaucrats once more at their worst." Carter has co-sponsored H.R. 4256 the Pool Safety and Accessibility for Everyone (Pool SAFE) Act by Congressman Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) which would provide a year-long extension for compliance with the new pool regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  The Pool Safe Act would allow hotels and other places of public accommodation to use portable pool lifts for multiple water features such as pools and spas.
