Carter to Kick Off Operation Turkey Day

WASHINGTON D.C. – To honor our service men and women the staff at Z’ Tejas Southwestern Grill will host a Thanksgiving meal for 500 soldiers returning to Fort Hood in Killeen Texas from deployment in Iraq.  Z’ Tejas recently opened their newest location at 10525 West Parmer Lane in northwest Austin and it will be the site of the Thanksgiving Day feast.  U.S. Representative John Carter (Fort Hood-TX) will kick off Operation Turkey Day by blessing the meal.  The first bus arrives at 10:45 a.m. 

“Our brave men and women have sacrificed so much to secure our safety and our freedom.  Serving them on this special day of thanks is the perfect way for our community to express its gratitude to our soldiers” Rep. Carter said.   “This holiday season let us remember and be thankful for our men and women in uniform who as we enjoy the comforts of our families and homes this holiday season endure discomfort and sacrifice many miles from home as they fight to keep us free.”

The menu will include Chef Jack’s Chile-Rubbed Fried Turkey with Giblet Gravy Jalapeno & Tamale Cornbread Dressing and Sweet Tater & Pecan Pie with a Bourbon Carmel Sauce. 

 Executive Chef Jack Gilmore states “We are honored and thankful to be able to share this very special day with the brave men and women who serve our country.  We hope to be a home away from home and look forward to showing our thanks by sharing a great meal with our new friends.”
