Just before noon Saturday in Austin Cathie Adams of Dallas was elected chairman of the Republican Party of Texas in a special election to replace outgoing chairman Tina Benkiser who is stepping aside after an extended period of service lauded for Republican gains across Texas county city & local levels.
Adams elected by the State Republican Executive Committe (SREC) garnered a 36-25 margin over former SREC member Melinda Fredricks of Conroe.
