Texans Should Be ‘Grateful’; He Leaves an ‘Impressive Legacy’
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – (KERRVILLE, TX) – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville, released the following statement today in response to Governor Rick Perry’s announcement that he will not seek reelection in 2014.
“I was honored to be with Governor Perry and hundreds of his supporters in San Antonio today as he announced his decision not to seek reelection as Governor. I’ve been privileged to work with him for many years on many important issues facing our state, particularly in the areas of fiscal policy, economic development and tax cuts.
“Throughout Governor Perry’s tenure the Texas economy has been then envy of the nation. His impressive legacy is that of a strong, growing state with an expanding economy in a land of unlimited opportunity. That legacy is something for which all Texans should be grateful.
“I know that Governor Perry will be an important leader for our state and nation going forward, and that his public service is not yet done.
“I’d like to personally thank Governor Perry and his wife Anita, for their friendship, and for their years of public service and I wish them the very best in the future.”
