Texas Insider Report: WASHINTON D.C. U.S. Representative Chet Edwards was in Austin Sunday August 22nd to address the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) Conference. Edwards subcommittee is credited with approving the largest single appropriation for Guard and Reserve military construction since at least 1964.
The National Guard Bureau selected Edwards to receive its 2010 Minuteman Award for his work to spearhead the new initiative in Congress to modernize Guard and Reserve facilities as Chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee.
Retired Maj. Gen. Gus L. Hargett Jr. National Guard Association of the United States president has said Chairman Edwards has continued to lead the congressional effort to modernize our aging National Guard facilities. We are grateful for his leadership and the actions of the committee speak volumes about their support of citizen-soldiers and airmen."
The NGAUS conference which began Last Friday included participants from all 50 states & US territories.
