Comptroller Distributes $555 Million in Monthly Sales Tax Revenue
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – “The growth in sales tax revenues was led by business spending in the oil & natural gas, wholesale trade, and construction sectors,” said Texas Comptroller Susan Combs today, announcing that state sales tax revenue in March was $2.09 billion, up 5.6% compared to March 2013. “This marks 48 consecutive months of growth in state sales tax collections.”
Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their April local sales tax allocations totaling $554.5 million, up a whopping 6.2% compared to April 2013.
“Collections from restaurants were also strong,” said Comptroller Combs.
The sales tax figures represent February sales reported by monthly tax filers.
