Cong. Barton Backs Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act

joe-barton1Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis/ Arlington) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3662 the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act. As a part of the Iran Nuclear Negotiations President Obama agreed to provide certain individuals and organizations in Iran relief from sanctions. Some of these organizations could be connected with terrorist activities but this bill prohibits the president from providing relief for these groups until security concerns can be alleviated. Additionally it allows greater Congressional oversight and approval.
The fact remains the president negotiated a bad deal with Iran that hurts our nation and our allies abroad. Since the deal was reached we have seen countless examples of why this extremist nation cannot be trusted. Today I voted to limit some of the powers within that deal. This administration should not and cannot remove terrorist organizations from laundering concerns lists or provide relief of sanctions. We will not stop until we can fully dismantle this bad deal but today progress was made. In a time of global insecurity and rising terrorist organizations our first concern must be to keep Americans safe."
