We need to have a victory strategy!"
WASHINGTON: Congressman Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington) issued the following statement after hearing about President Obamas plans for the war in Afghanistan:
I am supportive of our troops and their mission. By fighting against the Taliban and al-Qaeda and increasing our efforts to rid the world of terror we are making it safer and more secure here at home.
But I think it is ill-advised to be talking about an exit strategy before we have defeated the enemy. What we need to be devising is a victory strategy. Once you win the war it is easy to determine how to bring the troops home.
The terrorists dont have a timetable neither should we."
Congressman Barton represents the 6th District of Texas. He was first elected in 1984 and is the ranking member of the prestigious House Energy and Commerce Committee.
