Congressional Hearing to be held in San Antonio March 14th
Texas Insider Report: Washington D.C. As someone who spent years in community banking I am keenly aware of the importance of the community-based model and the need to preserve it said Congressman Francisco Quico Canseco former small business owner and a member of the
House Financial Services Committee announcing the field hearing to be held in downtown San Antonio on March 14th.
Canseco who represents the 23rd Congressional District of Texas made the following statement announcing witnesses:
I look forward to hearing testimony from community bank and credit union representatives from across Texas in the field hearing to be held in downtown San Antonio on March 14th. These witnesses will give us an accurate picture of the state of community-centered financial institutions from El Paso to San Antonio.
In recent years small financial institutions - including community banks and credit unions - have struggled to remain competitive as factors such as industry consolidation and rising regulatory costs have weighed against them.
This hearing will examine some of the primary issues facing these institutions and what actions can be taken by Congress to help preserve the community-based model.
I am excited to announce the witnesses we will be hearing testimony from:
