Securing our nations borders is paramount to the safety & security of the United States and its citizens.
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman Francisco Quico" Canseco representative of
a district with roughly 800 miles of U.S.-Mexico border said the following after the House of Represenatives passed the Homeland Security Appropriations bill:
Last night I cast my vote in support of the House Homeland Security Appropriations bill which provides the necessary resources to protect the American people but is also respectful of taxpayers and cuts wasteful redundant spending. This important legislation increases funding and support for our vital Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection agents our nations first line of defense."
The bill targets unnecessary spending within the Department of Homeland Security effectively decreasing allotted appropriations for the agency by $483 million below last years level. The bill also cuts $71 million in departmental administrative and management costs and

decreases funding for the Transportation Security Administration by $422 million.
A greater prioritization is given within the bill to our nations important law enforcement agencies particularly Customs and Border Protection and the legislation allots $10.2 billion in funding an increase of $180 million over the Presidents Fiscal Year 2013 request."
I firmly believe that securing our nations borders is paramount to the safety and security of the United States and its citizens. As the violence in Mexico continues to spill over into the United States protecting the American people is my highest priority and this bill provides the resources needed to do just that" concluded Congressman Canseco.
