We actually had a vote in the House on raising the Debt Ceiling in isolation without doing anything else
and it went down in flames. Every Republican voted against it and about 1/2 the Democrats voted against it.
What we want to do now primarily Republicans is tie any increase in the Debt Limit to Budgetary Reform so we dont just keep allowing the federal government to spend more & more without asking for some reforms in return.
We will get those because the President has now seen the vote in the House where even the Democrats voted against increasing the Debt Limit.
