Cong. McCaul Calls for Closing Embassies Suspension of Aid to Egypt Libya

The United States needs to send a clear signal to other countries that this barbaric behavior will not be tolerated" said Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) Chairman of Homeland Security Oversight & Investigations Committee and member of the Foreign Affairs Middle East Subcommittee. Our embassies abroad are an extension of our homeland. Our personnel serving in embassies are U.S. citizens on diplomatic missions. To attack our homeland and kill our citizens is outrageous deplorable and it must have severe consequences" Cong. McCaul said. width=153McCaul following the attacks on the American Embassy in Cairo and the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and members of his staff on Tuesday called for the:
  1. Immediate closing of U.S. Embassies and Consulates in Egypt & Libya
  2. Withdraw of U.S. government personnel from both countries
  3. Suspension of aid to those countries and
  4. Expulsion of their diplomats from the United States

McCaul immediately further called for the suspension of foreign aid to both counties until the Libyan and Egyptian governments officially condemn the actions of the Islamic extremists who perpetrated the violence and demonstrate that they have reigned in Islamic extremists so that American diplomats will be safe in those countries.
