Cong. McCaul: Gov. Perry to Testify at McAllen Hearing on Surge of Minors

Texas Border Crisis & the Surge of Unaccompanied Minors Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C.   The Department of Homeland Security is not adequately prepared to address this crisis which has left State and local officials to fill a void left by the Federal government said Cong. Michael McCaul of Texas chairman of the U.S. Houses Homeland Security Committee. Next week (Thursday July 3rd) the Committee will hold a hearing in McAllen Texas to examine the impact of and response to this massive flow of unaccompanied children. Chairman McCaul announced the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee will hold a field hearing entitled Crisis on the Texas Border: Surge of Unaccompanied Minors." The hearing said McCaul will examine the growing crises of unaccompanied children crossing the Southwest border. Texas Gov. Rick Perry will testify and the findings will be included with the efforts of the Congressional working group established to investigate this crisis.

Earlier this week on Tuesday June 24th McCaul chaired a hearing of the Committee on Homeland Security with Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson testifying to address the crisis of unaccompanied children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

Since October more than 50000 unaccompanied minors have crossed into the United States from Mexico nearly two-thirds of those crossed through the Rio Grande Valley in Texas" said McCaul who serves as chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee. We will receive first-hand accounts from Governor Perry and other witnesses which will be incorporated into the findings of the Congressional working group established to address this problem McCaul said.
