Cong. Olson: Help American Workers, Restore the 40 Hour Work Week

Congressman Pete Olson4Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to a Hoover Institution study, 2.6 million Americans – primarily low-income earners and those without a college degree – are at risk of losing needed income because employers are forced to cut their hours as a result of Obamacare’s 30-hour rule. Cong. Pete Olson (TX-22) today helped American workers who have been hit hard by reduced hours at work due to a critical Obamacare provision that defines full time employment as 30 hours, instead of the traditional 40 hours.

Olson helped draft and voted for H.R. 2575, the Save American Workers Act, which would repeal the Obamacare 30-hour definition of full-time employment and restore the traditional 40-hour definition for the purposes of the employer mandate.

The bill passed the House with bipartisan support by a vote of 248 to 179.

pete-olson“The Obamacare 30-hour definition ties the hands of employers by forcing them to reduce many of their part-time employees’ hours,” said Olson

“This is a direct hit to job creation and the pocketbooks of struggling families, single parents and young Americans who need to work.

“Obamacare is wreaking havoc on our economy. That’s why I have opposed this law from day one and will continue to do all I can to protect Americans by voting to fully repeal it and ensuring we protect employees when possible,” Olson said.
