
Austin TEXAS October 13 2009 Lainey Melnick Democratic candidate for the District 21 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives has reported her third-quarter fund-raising results. Total receipts of $12950.61 election cycle-to-date represent contributions from nearly 100 donors; 86 percent contributed $200 or less.

Leticia Van De Putte and Representatives Mark Strama Donna Howard and Elliott Naishtat; Six Democratic Party County Chairs; Austin City Council Members Chris Riley and Sheryl Cole; Constables Bruce Elfant and Richard McCain; 1972 vice presidential nominee Sissy Farenthold; Grammy-Award winner Ruben Ramos; environmentalist Robin Rather; activist Ruth Epstein; and 200 other influential Texans.

According to the Texas Democratic Party Voter Activation Network and the Texas Legislative Council there are 487394 registered voters in CD-21 475146 as of 2008 432850 as of 2006. In 2008 there was a 77.6 voter turnout with 82.5 of those voting in the Congressional election. In 2006 there was a 49.8 turnout with 94 of those voting in the Congressional election.
