Total receipts of $12950.61 election cycle-to-date represent contributions from nearly 100 donors; 86 percent contributed $200 or less.
Ms Melnick running against Republican incumbent Lamar Smith says I am honored to receive support and encouragement from so many concerned citizens from all walks of life. I am extremely grateful to those who sacrificed to contribute from their hard-earned savings."
Melnicks campaign also received significant endorsements during the same time frame. Supporters include Sen. Leticia Van De Putte and Representatives Mark Strama Donna Howard and Elliott Naishtat; Six Democratic Party County Chairs; Austin City Council Members Chris Riley and Sheryl Cole; Constables Bruce Elfant and Richard McCain; 1972 vice presidential nominee Sissy Farenthold; Grammy-Award winner Ruben Ramos; environmentalist Robin Rather; activist Ruth Epstein; and 200 other influential Texans.
Melnicks campaign has also taken root on the web. Her website http://www.laineyforcongress.com attracted over 85000 hits in September and support on Facebook (900 Friends and 535 Fans) and Twitter (1100 followers) continues to grow.
