Arlington Life Shelters facility renovations selected
Texas Insider Report: Arlington Texas The Joe Barton Family Foundation is pleased to announce its grant in support of the Arlington Life Shelters facility renovations which will include updating the check-in and food service areas. The facility renovations will provide outside shelter a family lounge commercial grade appliances and round dining room tables.
The Arlington Life Shelter provides shelter & support services to help the homeless.
These upgrades will provide a welcoming environment for all of the clients including young families who have never been to a shelter.
Earlier this year the Joe Barton Family Foundations Board of Directors reviewed various grant requests that were submitted from organizations throughout Texas. The Board selected to raise funds in support of the Arlington Life Shelter which is the only shelter in the DFW area with a work requirement for residents receiving more than emergency shelter.
Last year the shelter served 704 homeless men women and children with an average length of stay of 9 weeks. Remarkably 80 of program participants are currently employed in full-time positions.

The total budget for the renovations is $70600.
The Joe Barton Family Foundation pledged $36000 in matching funds. The Foundation hopes to have the monies raised by the end of the summer.
With the increasing temperatures this summer we have had 11 families including 17 children come to the shelter from their cars and apartments" stated Becky Orander executive director for the Arlington Life Shelter. The renovations to the shelter will be so beneficial with the influx of new families this year."
