Rep. Barton local leaders help children get needed health insurance

ARLINGTON: With Democrats in disarray and trying to find a way to pass their trillion dollar government takeover of the nations health care system Rep. Joe Barton will highlight alternatives on Saturday at an Arlington elementary school. He and other civic leaders will be signing up kids in need for the Childrens Health Insurance Program and Childrens Medicaid.
These government programs help thousands of uninsured and underinsured North Texas kids get needed health coverage benefits include choice of doctor regular check-ups prescriptions dental services shots eye exams and glasses. The problem is many parents dont know their kids qualify so the program is under-utilized and children miss out on necessary care.
During the health care debate Republicans have pointed to increasing awareness and enrollment in programs like CHIP as a way to lower the number of uninsured and underinsured Americans.
WHAT: U.S. Rep. Joe Barton staff from the Arlington ISD members of the Arlington Chamber State Reps. Diane Patrick Paula Pierson and Chris Turner will be helping parents and their children sign up for health care coverage.
