Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman Francisco Quico" Canseco (TX-23) a strong supporter of reining in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the following statement in response to the resignation of Al Armendariz formerly the administrator of EPAs South Central Region (which includes Texas)
Since taking office in January 2009 the Obama Administrations EPA has engaged in an all-out-assault on the oil and gas industry the coal industry and any other carbon-based energy source. Additionally the EPA has engaged in a massive power grab by looking at regulating everything from dust in the air to water in stock tanks on a ranch. This EPA has no regard for the cost that it will impose on Americans or the jobs that will be lost as a result.
Clearly this is an agency that is out-of-control and needs to be reined in. The 2010 statement of Al Armendariz likening his use of the EPAs enforcement process to a conquering Roman army crucifying people to control through fear should leave no question about the EPAs philosophy and how out of control it truly is.
His resignation is certainly welcome news. In fact after learning of his remarks I joined several of my colleagues in sending a letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson calling for the resignation. Unfortunately while Mr. Armendariz is gone from the EPA there are countless others at the agency who share this extreme philosophy. That is why Ive been fighting and will continue to fight to rein in the EPA and hold it accountable" concluded Congressman Canseco.
