Congressman Culberson on President Obamas Decision to Tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve

This reserve stores emergency supplies of crude oil and is intended to prevent supply disruptions not drops in the Presidents poll numbers." width=72Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman John Culberson (R-TX) issued the following statement on President Obamas decision to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve: Today President Obama announced the release of 30 million barrels of oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve turning it into his Strategic Political Reserve.  This reserve stores emergency supplies of crude oil and is intended to prevent supply disruptions not drops in the Presidents poll numbers.  The only real oil supply disruption we have is the Obama administration.  For over a year the Environmental Protection Agency and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) have instituted a de facto drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico.  The moratorium has increased prices reduced supply and cost jobs. The Presidents decision to tap into this emergency resource is irresponsible negligent and an attack on domestic energy production and the national economy. It is time for him to stop listening to his pollsters and start listening to the American people."
