The Appropriations Committee is one of the most sought after in the House. I am thankful to again be a member of this committee where I can continue to be a voice for East Texas and to make sure that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and frugally" said State Representative Bryan Hughes (left) of his Committee assignments for the 84th Texas Legislature.
Hughes ran for Speaker of the House in 2013 prior to withdrawing at the last-minute and earlier this year gave a seconding speech for the opponent of re-elected House Speaker Joe Straus.
Said State Rep. Jeff Leach (right) who gave the initial nominating speech for Straus opponent said
I am excited to report that earlier this week Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus announced committee assignments for the 84th Legislative Session and selected me to serve on the House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation. Now that committee assignments have been made the real work begins and I am looking forward to a productive legislative session said Leach.
