Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the Justice for All Reauthorization Act of 2013. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), is the lead Republican author of the bill.
“This bill provides law enforcement with the resources they need to protect victims of sexual assault and punish their assailants. I’m pleased the Judiciary Committee acted in a bipartisan manner to pass this bill, and I’m hopeful that Sen. Reid will bring it before the full Senate without delay.”
The Justice for All Reauthorization Act of 2013 reauthorizes the Debbie Smith Act and other major federal forensic science programs, and makes changes to the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) fund to help ensure that it is not being raided for purposes unrelated to direct victims’ services.
Senator Cornyn serves on the Finance and Judiciary Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee’s Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee.
