Vote to Protect Special Obamacare Carve-Out for Congress
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared on Bloomberg last night to discuss Senate Democrats rejecting the House’s reasonable proposals to keep the government open and delay Obamacare. Excerpts are below, and the full interview can be seen here.
“Every reasonable proposal, including the last which would have delayed the individual mandate for a year, eliminated the special carve-out for Members of Congress, went down on a party-line vote.
“Why do Members of Congress get a special carve-out? Why are Democrats defending that? People are sick and tired of business as usual in Washington.
“They see spending continue, they see borrowing continue, and they want to see a change and so far it doesn’t seem like the President has gotten the message.”
Senator Cornyn serves on the Finance and Judiciary Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee’s Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. He served previously as Texas Attorney General, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and Bexar County District Judge.
