Cornyn: GOP Budget Will Protect Taxpayers

Our Priority Is To Protect The Hardworking Taxpayers Of This Country cornyn-floorTexas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) highlighted some of the key aspects of the Senate Republican budget during remarks on the Senate floor today. Excerpts of Sen. Cornyns remarks can be found below and video of his speech can be viewed here.
Writing and passing a budget is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of any legislative body." When it comes to the budget … our priority is clear. Our priority is to protect the hardworking taxpayers of this country." I believe based on the failed experiment of the last few years we should conclude that just taxing and spending is not going to allow us to achieve the kind of prosperity and economic growth that we all so badly want." Its no secret why Texas has been one of the leading job creation engines over the last several years. If you ask business leaders theyll tell you what makes Texas such an attractive place to do business." In Texas we know we should not punish job creators with taxes that discourage investment and overregulation which makes it hard to make the bottom line balance. Were not ashamed of our abundance of natural resources nor are we apologetic about encouraging its development. And the results have been extraordinary." We can take strategies that have worked in the states and lessons weve learned in these laboratories of democracy and apply them here in Washington on a greater scale for the benefit of the entire nation. Simply put it boils down to lower taxes we have sensible regulations and we have a lower level of per capita government spending." This budget perhaps the single-most important thing it does is it says America is back as the leader of the free world and we will not shrink and we will not turn our back on our responsibility not only to ourselves and our people but to our friends and allies across the world."
