CORNYN: Obama Abdicating Leadership Neglecting Medicare

width=122Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Texas Sen. John Cornyn ratcheted up the heat surrounding ongoing budget reform negotiations & the national debt ceiling earlier today accusing President Obama of standing idly by while Medicare goes bankrupt. President Obama has said hes willing to make some tough decisions but yet he refuses to provide concrete constructive & meaningful proposals to deal with this impending insolvency on one of our most important government programs" Cornyn said from the Senate floor.   By refusing to propose needed reforms to this important program President Obama is abdicating his responsibility to lead as the president of the United States" Cornyn said. Cornyn who is GOP National Senatorial Committee Chairman said Obama is also violating the law by failing to issue a proposal as required by the Medicare Reform Act of 2003. That act requires the president to create a plan to make Medicare solvent if the programs trustees forecast imminent insolvency. /In May Medicares trustees issued a report that projected Medicare coffers could run dry by 2024. Their plan appears to be not to step up and do what the law requires to offer a proposal to save Medicare but rather to try to take cynical political advantage leading up to the next election by attacking the very people who are making constructive proposals" Cornyn said. Cornyn supports the House GOP plan that would turn Medicare into a sort of voucher system for future senior citizens.
