We must implement the spending cuts and structural entitlement reforms needed to secure the long-term fiscal integrity of our country. . . cornyn-1Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C.  U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement after voting against the Senate Democrats budget proposal which includes $1.5 trillion in new taxes increases spending by 60 over ten years and never balances: Senate Democrats returned from a four-year budgeting hiatus to ram through a plan that raises taxes by $1.5 trillion increases spending by 60 percent and adds $7.3 trillion to a national debt that already eclipses our entire economy. The budget that passed today doesnt solve the problem it grossly exacerbates it. We must implement the spending cuts and structural entitlement reforms needed to secure the long-term fiscal integrity of our country. A good first step would be to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment which Ive sponsored and all Senate Republicans support." Sen.
