Makes Statement on House Budget Committee Chairman Ryans Proposal
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) a member of the Senate Finance Committee today voted for an amendment to repeal the burdensome 1099 tax reporting requirement in the $2.6 trillion healthcare law. The amendment offered by U.S. Senator Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) overwhelmingly passed the Senate today by a vote of 87 to 12. Afterwards Cornyn said the following:
Todays vote to repeal the 1099 paperwork provision in Obamacare sends a clear message to small business owners that weve heard your concerns and weve taken tangible steps to prevent this burdensome provision from hampering your ability to grow and make new hires.
The President must now sign this repeal into law. His inaction will result in miles of red tape and regulations strapped on the backs of our small business owners burdening them with more expenses and greater uncertainty during these fragile economic times.
Considering the President has already issued waivers to nearly 3 million people he should have no problem signing the 1099 repeal which has strong bipartisan approval in Congress and the resounding support of Americas small businesses."
Cornyn: on House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryans Proposal
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) today released the following statement regarding House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryans fiscal year 2012 budget proposal:

Congressman Paul Ryan and the House Republicans stepped up and filled a leadership void that the President and Senate Democrats have steadfastly refused to fill. The House Republican budget proposal speaks directly to the frustrations of the American people and addresses the long-term fiscal challenges that we all know we have to face.
Instead of demagoguing this serious proposal I hope President Obama and Congressional Democrats take this opportunity to engage in a constructive debate to get our nations fiscal house back in order."
