Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Courts decision in
United States v. Texas:
By going around Congress to grant legal status to millions of people here illegally the President abused the power of his office and ignored the will of the American people. The President cant circumvent the legislative process simply because he doesnt get what he wants and Im glad the Rule of Law was affirmed."
Earlier this year Senator Cornyn and 42 other Senate Republicans
filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the State of Texas challenge to the Obama Administrations November 2014 executive actions on immigration.
Sessions Statement on the United States v. Texas Ruling
U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32) Chairman of the House Rules Committee today released the following statement applauding the Supreme Courts ruling in the United States v. Texas case:
Todays judgment confirms what Republicans have been saying since President Obama announced his lawless executive amnesty plan - his actions were unwise unlawful and - most importantly - unconstitutional. The Supreme Courts decision to affirm the ruling that halted the Presidents blatant abuse of executive authority is a major victory for Article I of the Constitution the rule of law and the American people.
