Cornyn TPPF Announce Findings of Texas-Specific Cap-&-Trade Legislation Impacts

john-cornyn5AUSTIN U.S. Sen. John Cornyn R-Texas will join the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) for a press conference in Houston Thursday February 18 to announce the findings of critical new research on the severe impact federal climate change or cap-and-trade legislation would have on the Texas economy. The report examines the Texas-specific impacts of pending climate change legislation including the effect it would have on various Texas industries jobs energy prices and the economy. The report models the economic impact of H.R. 2454 the Waxman-Markey climate change legislation approved by the U.S. House last year.  Similar legislation is pending in the U.S. Senate.   Sen. Cornyn will also discuss the EPAs anticipated federal regulations for greenhouse gases and his commitment to fighting these and other overreaching regulations proposed by the current Administration which would negatively impact Texas jobs and the local economy.  The press conference will take place at Mach Industrial Group a Houston-based family-owned metal manufacturing business that would be directly impacted by current cap-and-trade proposals. Sen. Cornyn will be joined by Mach Industrial Group owner Harry Mach Jr. along with other Mach executives and representatives from TPPF Texas Association of Manufacturers and the American Council for Capital Formation. Other state and local business leaders will also be in attendance and available to comment on the reports findings. Previous studies conducted by TPPF include the highly regarded Laffer Health Care Report which was the first of its kind to closely examine the impact the House-passed government-run health care proposal would have on Texas its budget and its people.
