The Honorable Barack H. Obama President of the United States The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President:

In the wake of the devastating weather events across the State of Texas we are writing in support of Governor Greg Abbotts request for a Major Disaster Declaration as a result of winter storms tornadoes and flooding since December 26th 2015.  This severe weather has caused significant destruction of property and resulted in tragic loss of life.

We have been encouraged by the efforts of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to rapidly deploy assistance to state and local officials to assess the severity of initial damages.

On behalf of the 27 million Texans we proudly represent we ask that you expedite the processing and approval of the states request so that our affected communities and constituents many of whom experienced multiple major disasters last year can better recover from this tragedy.

Thank you for your consideration.
