Today’s Logic Letter
By Lynn Woolley
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Dear Lojiks,
The Olympics are here..and while I never watch the games, I am interested this year. We put the Games in an authoritarian country whose leader is an old Commie and, of course, the entire thing is falling apart.
Hotels are not finished. Water is not potable. Pest control offers are shooting dogs on the streets. And then, there’s the little issue of putting the Games in a place where there are PO-ed Muslim terrorists. Lovely.
NBC’s Bob Costas waxes eloquently about how wonderful Putin is. To hear Costas, you’d think Putin is one of the world’s great champions of peace. In laughable juxtaposition, the Wall Street Journal carries one column today about how awful it is that TALK RADIO killed immigration reform — and another about how awful it is that there is no free media (TALK RADIO) in Russia. So we’re too powerful in the US and there ain’t none of us in Russia. I wonder which the WSJ thinks is worse?
Yep, WSJ blames good old Talk Radio for killing immigration. And Michael Gerson says that immigration reform collapse means that we are not “welcoming” enough. Gerson sings the praises of multiculturalism. But the leaves out inconvenient truths about anchor babies, and crime, and culture degradation. May he back into a diseases yak.
Speaking of diseased yaks (and if you don”t understand the reference, we’ll provide clues) — Jay Leno has bowed out as host of the TONIGHT SHOW. Yep, NBC, a network that has few successes and an awful cable news network that embarrasses it daily, is firing it’s only claim to a #1 spot. (And they gotta wait months for Sunday Night Football again.)
Lots of people think Jay should go to FOX, name a new show Jay Leno Tonight, and slam it right up against TONIGHT. Now THAT would be funny.
There is more corruption in politics. See today’s LOGIC MINUTE for one story — and another is former New Orleans (the chocolate city) mayor Ray Nagin — on trial on bribery charges. There is also a cronyism story we’ll have for you. I am so tired of crooked politicians. We shall always have them — but why do we have to coddle them? The IRS scandal is still in full bloom — with new allegations yesterday.
In Temple, Texas, there are those who want the Judy Morales scandal to blow over — and get her back on the council as a voting member ASAP. There are others who demand that she be treated as anyone else would be — and be investigated by an outside entity — NOT LOCAL AUTHORITIES BECAUSE OF CRONYISM — and then let the chips fall where they may. There will be an attempt to sweep this under the rug. There could also be grave repercussions if the City Council tries to do that. I will follow it and will report. So I hereby call for a special prosecutor or a state investigation.
I do not wish to be the conscience of Temple, Texas. That job should belong to Mayor Danny Dunn. It is my job to report. It is his job to oversee the city and make sure it is run honestly and with integrity. That is what he MUST do. There is no other choice.
Take a stand!
Logically,
Lynn Woolley
