Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Today Representatives John Culberson (R-TX) and Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that they will serve as co-chairs of the Congressional Research and Development (R&D) Caucus which helps educate Members of Congress and their staff on essential R&D projects and the importance of maintaining Americas role as a world leader in research and development.
The R&D Caucus was founded by former Representatives Judy Biggert (R-IL) and Rush Holt (D-NJ) during the 108th Congress.
The Constitution gives Congress authority in promoting the progress of science and we have a duty to ensure America remains the world leader in scientific and medical breakthroughs" said Culberson. It all starts with R&D. The R&D projects our scientists tackle today will shape the world our children and grandchildren inherit and will determine Americas economic and military strength for generations to come."
Culberson chairs the Commerce Justice & Science Appropriations Subcommittee which overseas funding for the National Science Foundation National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other related agencies.

Foster the only physicist serving in Congress is a scientist and businessman who worked at Fermi National Laboratory for over 20 years. Fosters business career began at age 19 when he and his younger brother co-founded Electronic Theatre Controls Inc. a company that now manufactures over half of the theater lighting equipment in the United States.
