Culberson: New Drilling Moratorium Reflects Obamas Underlying Agenda

By Congressman John Culberson width=72 Texas Insider Report: Washington DC  I am deeply disappointed that the Obama Administration has issued a new offshore drilling moratorium.  The previous moratorium was struck down in federal court for being arbitrary and capricious and the only logical conclusion is that the president and the Interior Secretary are willing to sacrifice jobs and ignore the courts to advance their agenda.   These moratoria directly reflect this administrations underlying agenda which is punishing our domestic oil and gas industry. The administrations approach is ham-handed poorly written and punitive to the honest hardworking people who have been put in limbo by the prohibition on oil and gas exploration. The most troubling aspect of the moratorium is its devastating effect on jobs and the economy.  I will continue pushing legislation that overturns this moratorium. The American people need to know what caused this disaster and what should be done to prevent another spill.  But we should respond in a thoughtful and deliberate way that protects jobs while enhancing safety.
