Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman John Culberson (TX-07) issued the following statement on the release of the Pledge to America:
Today House Republican Leadership released A Pledge to America. This governing document commits to a conservative agenda that would cut wasteful spending cut taxes shrink the deficit and repeal and replace the massive health care bill passed earlier this year.
The pledge would also end TARP and the federal entanglement with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The pledge also includes a bipartisan measure I introduced last year to make legislation available online 72 hours before it is considered by the House.
For too long the American people have been shut out of the process. I believe the 72 hour rule will enhance public participation in our democracy and help restore the public trust in government by raising the level of openness order and discourse.
