Without that option employers will not be able to afford to take a chance on people... says states largest business group
AUSTIN Texas (Texas Insider Report) We need to
keep the Texas job engine producing at full capacity and Sen. Davis proposal of raising the minimum wage to $10 per hour is a good way to throw a wrench into a system that is working" said Bill Hammond CEO of the
Texas Association of Business.
As the state chamber of commerce the
Texas Association of Business (TAB) is the most influential and dominant voice for public policy issues affecting business in Texas. Through results-oriented advocacy and member services TAB has been instrumental in developing a climate in Texas which has enabled more than 4000 business members and their 600000 employees to operate efficiently and profitably thus creating new jobs.
For many employers in Texas the minimum wage is merely a training wage. It gives them the ability to hire people with low skills and give them skills in a way that makes economic sense" said Hammond.

Without that option employers will not be able to afford to take a chance on people with limited skills. Those job opportunities will go away and the very people that Sen. Davis is trying to help will actually be hurt because they will have fewer opportunities Hammond said.
TAB is proud to be the official state partner of the National Association of Manufacturers.
