Democratic Party
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Im excited to welcome these county officials as my fellow Republicans. Their courageous decision simply underscores the reality that the Democratic party no longer represents what East Texans believe or what they want from their government said State Rep. Wayne Christian upon hearing the news for the first time.
The Republican Party continues to expand its strength in deep East Texas with todays announcement that four locally elected Democrats have joined the Republican Party.
The event was held at Shelby Savings Bank in Hemphill Texas on the afternoon of Wednesday June 15th in a ceremony attended by the new Republican officials State Senator Robert Nichols members from the offices of State Representative Wayne Christian and Republican Party of Texas.
Joining the Republican Party include:
- County Judge Charles Watson
- County Sheriff Tom Maddox
- County Commissioner Pct. 1 Keith Clark and
- Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 James Brasher.
Said Christian I am proud of the outstanding work of Les Kercheval Sabine County Chair and the

members of the Sabine County Republican Party. They are doing a great job of communicating the values and principles of the Republican Party to the local community and offering support to conservative candidates as an organization that stands for the same things as they do.
This latest addition to the Republican Party in East Texas underscores the transition going on across our state in our local and county governments. Sabine County Republican Chairman Les Kercheval stated
We are so proud of these public officials who have shown the courage of their convictions in joining the Republican Party. Their views values and principles have not changed just their party. The vast majority of Sabine County residents hold these same strong conservative values and believe in local control of our lives and our community.
My impression of these individuals as I have met and worked with some of them over the years is that they are like-minded conservatives whose view on

limited government fiscal responsibility traditional values and local control best line up with the platform of the Republican Party. Im glad to welcome them to the family.
I cannot say enough how the hard work of Les and the Sabine County Republican Club is so greatly appreciated. This is a great day to celebrate their hard work as well stated Christian.
