Democrats Pick Up 2 New Seats!

2 more critical recall elections next week width=129By Michael Sargeant Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas What started as 14 Democrats standing up for working families has grown into a national movement to fight back against GOP radicalism! Last night Democrats won two historic victories in the Wisconsin recalls defeating two deeply entrenched GOP incumbents who cast the deciding votes in favor of Governor Scott Walkers radical anti-worker agenda.   To do it Democrats marched into some of the most conservative districts in Wisconsin - into the teeth of a $20 million smear campaign funded by right-wing special interests - and still took away two of their seats. The Wisconsin Recalls:
  • Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) 55 - Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse) 45
  • Jessica King (D-Oshkosh) 51 - Randy Hopper (R-Fond du Lac) 49
Last nights victory may not have been absolute but weve proven that when Democratic legislators stand up and fight back against the radical GOP agenda the American people will stand up and fight along side them too. Republicans are already hopelessly spinning last nights results but they cannot hide what theyve lost. Had these two new Democrats been in the state Senate six months ago Scott Walkers radical anti-worker agenda would have suffered a humiliating defeat in a key vote. Now even the most entrenched GOP legislators are all on notice:
Betray working families the way Republicans did in Wisconsin and they will be held accountable.
We have two more critical recalls next week where well need to defend two strongly progressive Democrats who were instrumental members of the Wisconsin 14.  Then the fight moves on to every corner of the country where Republicans have embraced Scott Walkers brand of radicalism. When Democrats take the fight to the Republicans we win. Michael Sargeant is Executive Director if the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee.
