Tony Perkins Washington Update
Texas Insider Report: Washington D.C. If President Obama didnt have a problem with female voters before he might now. The White House has Democratic advisor Hillary Rosen to thank for its latest headache which
did more to alienate American moms in one sentence than some liberals have done in their entire careers. On Anderson Coopers AC360 Rosen took aim at Gov. Mitt Romneys wife Ann for sacrificing her career to stay home with their children.
His wife has actually never worked a day in her life she said with disdain. Shes never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing.
But the campaigns strategy--to portray the Romneys as a wealthy out-of-touch family--backfired. Big time.
Moments after Rosens bombshell people started unloading on the DNC strategist for insulting the job (yes
job!) that millions of women choose--often sacrificially--to nurture and educate their children at home. Not two hours after the show aired Ann Romney also weighed in opening her own Twitter account so that she could reply.

I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me it was hard work.
Obviously the Left didnt learn anything from its earlier mistakes. In February the Obama campaign tried to invent a controversy about Sen. Rick Santorums position on working women--which is merely that they should be empowered to stay home if they want to.
But some in the media were so busy trying to pit Sen. Santorum against the female workforce that it missed his most important point of all. Sen. Santorum wasnt maligning the choice of working moms. He was defending their right
to have a choice in the first place.
The Left may not have understood that but I guarantee American mothers did. Feminists are the ones co-opting women and forcing them into their progressive anti-family box--even though a majority of moms insist they would rather be home with their children to begin with!
According to Dr. Brad Wilcox
74 percent of married mothers who are working full-time would prefer to work fewer hours or not at all.
Now in the hours since the primetime snub the President is desperately trying to dig himself out of the political hole his operatives have dug. Obama surrogates David Axelrod and Jim Messina raced to Twitter to cover for the Presidents PR advisor

(cue the irony) but the damage had already been done. As Michelle Malkin (a working mom herself) writes Chauvinists can wear heels too.
If the Left isnt bashing Ann Romney for putting her family first then its accusing women like Gov. Sarah Palin of not staying home enough. What conservatives like Malkin resent is the double standard.
The sorority is closed to the Right.
For 29 years FRC has advocated for mothers to have the very legitimate choice to stay home with their children. Denying them that would be the biggest war on women of all.
