Governor Ive always promoted greater budget transparency and worked with Governor Perry and the Texas Legislature to balance five state budgets without raising taxes on hardworking Texans said Lt. Governor David Dewhurst calling for further transparency in the state budget process.
Last session we made progress on improving budget transparency and during the interim I charged the Senate Finance Committee with making recommendations to provide even greater transparency in our budget process including ways to reduce the use of dedicated funds for alternative purposes and enhance access to research and background information.
I applaud Speaker Straus call for greater transparency and accountability and I look forward to continuing to improve our budget process Dewhurst said.
