in San Angelo yesterday Lt. Gov. & U.S. Senate candidate David Dewhurst announced the endorsements of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers the Texas Apartment Association and the Independent Bankers Association of Texas this week.
The organizations said they believe Dewhurst to have the proven conservative record and the knowledge to do what it takes to go to Washington and get the nation back on track.
In San Angelo Thursday and the first candidate to stop in San Angelo since filing to run Dewhurst spoke to a crowd approximating 100 at the Tom Green County Republican Party where he addressed the need for dramatic cuts in federal spending and taxes to help balance the federal budget.
You know I will because Ive done it over & over again here in Texas. I have cut spending by billions of dollars each year and Ive balanced five straight state budgets without raising taxes Dewhurst said.
Members of the San Angelo Pachyderm Club the San Angelo Tea Party the Concho Valley Republican Women as well as local elected officials were also in attendence to hear Dewhursts comments.
Dewhurst chided President Obama over Obamacare saying he believes is to be unconstitutional and one of the worst pieces of legislation ever passed.
Stopping the Obama Administration from trampling on religious traditions and values while calling President Obama the most secular President hes seen in his lifetime Dewhurst spoke prior to Don Miller vice president of the San Angelo Tea Party.
Miller said he believed Dewhurst to be the candidate to actually do something and not just warm his chair if elected.
Earlier in the week Dewhurst Senior Advisor David Carney spoke out by questioning why one of Dewhursts Republican Primary opponents Ted Cruz continued to be affiliated as
a high-ranking partner with the law firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius. According to
Carney Cruz has continued in his position with the law firm while knowing it to be allied with liberal billionaire George Soros and other clients.
A renowned liberal financier and hedge fund manager
Soros has used the
firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius for representation.
Since stepping down as a government lawyer nearly four years ago Cruz has worked with the firm which Carney said has a long
record of contributing overwhelmingly to Democrats.
Carney referred to
Cruzs website where it is stated that Agenda 21 was crafted by Soros and others and where the website specifically criticizes Agenda 21 stating the originator of this grand scheme is George Soros who candidly supports socialism.
As Dewhurst talked about defending America and maintaining a strong military as well as securing the borders shouts of amen and clapping greeted him.
When compared to New Yorks 50000 officers Dewhurst said the Border Patrols approximately 15000 officers didnt make sense. He suggested tripling the size of the Border Patrol agents by hiring returning veterans to fill needed positions.
That total cost is less than what third parties say illegal immigration and drugs cost the state of Texas not to mention the other 49 states said Dewhurst.
