Dewhurst Leads Way on Personal Privacy Issues, Helps Data Foundry Groundbreaking

David Dewhurst helped Data Foundry, the Texas-based data center operator, break ground Thursday at a ceremony for Houston 2, the company’s newest data center in north Houston. “From their humble beginnings as one of the first Internet Service Providers in Texas, Data Foundry DataFoundryLOGO1ahas grown by leaps and bounds, attracting investment and creating jobs as they help people connect. Today, we’re marking yet another expansion of a state economy that is the envy of America.” 

Dewhurst spoke to Data Founder employees and community leaders in a ceremony on the ground floor of the company’s newest and largest data center.

“Today’s groundbreaking is Data Foundry’s latest leap into a very bright future.”

In addition to celebrating the success of Data Foundry’s expansion, Lt. Governor Dewhurst addressed the serious privacy concerns that have been raised by Data Foundry and other tech companies and organizations.

“Internet companies like Data Foundry are dealing with more and more federal interference every day,” said Dewhurst.

However, Texas and companies that call this state home must lead the way in defending the personal privacy that is such an essential element of liberty.

“While Washington continues to evade its responsibilities to reform the NSA, Texas will continue to pass legislation that strengthens our citizens’ right to privacy.”

Dewhurst made reference to his Interim Committee Charges on government transparency and personal data privacy as important steps in the effort to protect Texans’ essential rights:
