width=65AUSTIN -- District 32 voters will get a chance to sound off on issues important to their lives and help set public policy priorities in a series of town hall meetings sponsored by the Todd Hunter Campaign for State Representative.

The issue oriented meetings known as Talk With Todd:  A Todd Hunter Town Hall Meeting will run from April through June and focus on specific issues that citizens decide are important to themselves and other district residents.

“Good public policy should represent the needs and ideas of the people we serve” said Hunter who previously represented the Coastal Bend for four terms in the Texas House of Representatives. “These meetings are designed to hear from the people of District 32. Over a 90 day period we will go into Aransas Calhoun San Patricio and Nueces counties and listen to people’s ideas concerns and priorities for setting public policy.”

During his time in office Hunter was known for his constituent services and for regular town hall meetings that kept district residents informed about legislation and how it would affect them.

The campaign said that several different issues have already been suggested by district residents for the meetings including windstorm insurance and hurricane preparedness; transportation and its impact on District 32; taxes and alternative ways of raising revenue; and energy and the environment.

“Todd wants to develop an agenda based on the values and ideas of voters in District 32” said campaign manager Steve Ray.  “Throughout his legislative career he developed a reputation as a consensus builder who could bring people together. “

Ray said that residents are urged to call the headquarters at 361-949-TODD (8633) and suggest topics for the town hall meetings. He said information on the town hall meetings is also being posted on the campaign website at www.electtoddhunter.com.

The series of town hall meetings is designed to get input from citizens on some of the most important issues that will face the state legislature in the next session.

“Who better to help develop public policy than those whose pocketbooks are most affected by the actions of legislators in Austin?” Hunter asked. “I am excited about hearing from and listening to the people of this district.”

Hunter is the Republican nominee for the District 32 state representative seat.  The district includes Aransas San Patricio Calhoun and part of Nueces counties. He left office in 1997 to be with his family while his children were small and promised to return to public service when they were older. Hunter served in numerous leadership positions in the House including as a committee chairman and was recognized for his legislative efforts  by publications and organizations across the state.
