Dont Raise Health Care Taxes in Recession

Democrats health care proposal will impose $800 billion tax increase on hard working Americans & small businesses mikeconaway21On Friday the U.S. House of Representatives finished legislative business for the next month and headed back to their respective districts for the August district work period. When dealing with issues as important as health reform I feel it is best to hear from the experts those who live and breathe the health care system on a daily basis to find out what the best steps are for our country in terms of reform.  The Democrats health care legislation being considered by the House is still being debated in Congress as it should be. Clearly there are many issues to deal with. How will we pay for this costly legislation? Who will pay for it and how will everyone afford it? What about pre-existing conditions? The list goes on and on. There are a number of issues that still need to be addressed as a nation and yet we are not doing so in an effective manner with the bill that will come before the House in September. It is essential that Congress take the time to get this right to ensure that the doctor/patient relationship is protected quality is ensured and our system becomes more cost efficient. We are currently in the midst of the worst recession of our time. Since the recession began six million jobs have been lost. Yet the Democrats health care proposal will not only impose a massive $800 billion tax increase on hard working Americans and small businesses but will actually lead to more job losses and less coverage. While I am a proponent of reforming our health care system I vehemently oppose any plan that puts Washington bureaucrats between patients and the health care that they need and deserve. I stand with the majority of the American people and demand that we propose real solutions to get our economy back on track and reform this wonderful nations health care system. texasI want to hear from the constituents of West and Central Texas and hear your thoughts on this issue to take the most information possible back to Washington in September as we continue this debate. For the next month I will be travelling through the 36 counties that make up District 11 speaking with doctors patients and hospital personnel about the current health care legislation. Thank you for reading The Conaway Chronicle a review of my activities in Congress. This newsletter is to let you know whats going on in Washington and what important issues are being debated in Congress.
