Jones currently serves as Chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission the states energy oversight agency. Prior to her service on the Railroad Commission she was elected three times to the Texas House of Representatives. She is a candidate for the Republican nomination to succeed Kay Bailey Hutchison who is retiring from the U.S. Senate.
