Railroad Commissioner named by Con Mi MADRE for community service award

Austin TX - Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones was honored Sunday with the Corazon Award from the organization
Con Mi MADRE at their Mothers Day celebration. The Corazon Award honoree is selected each year for their positive impact on their families communities and professional fields.
The Con Mi MADRE program is an example how Central Texans come together to support our younger generation in their goals of achieving education. These dedicated volunteers work to achieve this goal by providing comprehensive educational and social support services to young Hispanic girls and their mothers. Jones said.
Con Mi MADREs hard work and dedication will change and effect the lives of many in a positive way. I appreciate the recognition of my work but it is the volunteers of this organization who deserve the credit.
Con Mi MADRE is a college preparatory program that provides Hispanic female students and their mothers with the educational and social support needed to encourage academic and personal success.
After championing this program for 16 years The Junior League of Austin launched the Hispanic Mother Daughter Program in 2007 to become an independent non-profit operating under the new name
Con Mi MADRE ... Mothers And Daughters Raising Expectations.
The translation of the new name is
with my mother which this reflects the unique element of the college bound program which involves the participation by both the mother and daughter.
