Ames Jones statement on U.S. Senate Campaign new race for Texas Senate
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas After careful thought and consideration and conversations with numerous great Texans who I trust and respect I have decided to run for Texas Senate District 25.
This was not an easy decision. Bringing conservative principles to government is my priority" said Elizabeth Ames Jones earlier today announcing her move from candidate for the U.S. Senate to the Texas Senate.
I want to ensure that Senate District 25 has an aggressive pro-business advocate to create jobs and make sure we have the resources we need to continue to thrive.
I was born in San Antonio and my roots are deep in this district. No one cares about the future of the cities and towns in this region more than I do" Jones said.
No one can match my experience. As a Texas Legislator I built a strong conservative record balancing budgets passing tort reform and cutting government spending. As Railroad Commissioner I have overseen Texas vital and booming energy economy.
My experience and my conservative leadership are what District 25 needs.
This was not an easy decision. Thousands of Texans rallied behind my campaign (for U.S. Senate) and the strong support I received statewide laid out a path to victory in the Republican

primary for U.S. Senate said Jones.
But I also know that from the Eagle Ford shale to fiscal issues to protecting our values to fighting for higher education the 25th District needs fresh strong conservative leadership and I am the candidate who can provide it.
I look forward to talking with voters all across the 25th District about the issues that are near and dear to Texas and to my heart Jones said.
