
September 28 2009 Austin TX: The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) announced today that Brian Rawson is stepping down as executive director of the agency and that Karen Robinson director of administration and technology for the Office of the Governor will serve as interim director.
Brian has headed DIR for almost three years and has diligently worked to manage the many services the agency provides including TexasOnline" said Charles Bacarisse incoming Chair of the DIR Board. I know I speak on behalf of all the board members in thanking Brian for his service to the agency and the people of Texas. While the data consolidation is a long way from completion on behalf of the Board I thank him for his efforts."
Robinsons appointment as interim director will take effect immediately. Karen has a strong reputation in the technology field but more importantly as a leader who builds strong teams that successfully complete complex tasks" Bacarisse added. I am confident she is the right leader for the agency during this transition."
Rawson has agreed to remain with DIR for a couple of weeks in support of the transition of agency leadership to Robinson. After leaving DIR he will go to work at the Texas Education Agency as Director of Statewide Data Initiatives. DIR has engaged the services of Korn/Ferry to assist the DIR Board with the hiring of a new executive director.
Robinson has more than 14 years experience in the technology field; for the past two years she has been director of administration and technology in the Governors office. Prior to that she was technology director for the office. She also worked on technology issues for former Gov. George Bush for Perry when he was Lieutenant Governor and for the Texas Legislative Council.
