Talented Texas Arts Students Receive Grants
AUSTIN – First Lady Anita Perry today congratulated 15 talented Texas arts students who were chosen as Young Masters and awarded grants to pursue studies in their chosen artistic field.
“To nurture the next generation of greatness we must not only set standards for success but also offer the encouragement to attain it” said Mrs. Perry. “The Young Masters Scholarship Program sends the message that no dream is too big to achieve. These young artists are living proof of that.”
Every two years the Texas Commission on the Arts awards the Young Masters Scholarship to talented 8th through 12th grade Texas students. This year more than 140 students applied to program and only 15 were chosen.
The program is intended to encourage talented young Texas artists. Recipients receive a grant for up to $2500 a year to be renewed for up to three years not to go beyond the summer after high school graduation. Young Masters is funded in part by a grant from The Texas Cultural Trust Council as well as through generous corporate and individual contributions.
